In 2021 an impressive 20 startup companies secured investor funding through the Vevolution marketplace, a technology-focused plant-based and cell-based investment platform. As a follow on from last year’s success, a new partnership has recently been agreed between Vevolution and Vegan Investors, a network of accredited investors who seek to initiate early-stage investment within vegan companies.
Vegan Investors has already supported many vegan startups, such as Renegade Foods, Fabalish, New Wave, Vegan Wines, amongst others. The group’s ethos is that by financing healthy and sustainable plant-based companies, they are creating a more just and sustainable world through the values of integrity, transparency and passion.
Alicia Robb serves as Founder & CEO of Next Wave Impact, a venture capital firm that aims to increase women’s participation in angel investing as an asset class. She also founded the Vegan Investors network, and commented on the latest collaboration: “Vegan Investors is excited to join Vevolution and utilise its technology for screening and due diligence as well as collaborate with the broader community of other aligned investors and impact companies.”
Since its inception in 2019, Vegan Investors functioned through an investor syndicate that aggregated individual investments into Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) of $50,000 to $200,000.
Erik Amundson, Managing Director of Vevolution said: “We’ve always had a positive relationship with the Vegan Investors community, and we’re thrilled to onboard its cohort of mission-aligned members to Vevolution.”
Vevolution initially began as an events and media startup. Its mission is to accelerate the growth of the plant-based and cell-based economy through the provision of fintech solutions that bring opportunities for investors and startups. At present, its ecosystem is home to over 3,000 users, more than 1,000 organisations and at least 70 investor members.
